FAQPath of Hope is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization concerned with helping children of limited means. It was formed in 1996 by Colleen Peruo, PhD., of A.C.P.T.S. (Associates in Counseling, Training and Psychological Services) in Clifton, NJ and a group of concerned friends interested in enhancing the lives of these children. We conduct various fund raising activities to finance uplifting, enriching events for our children. Each winter, we hold a holiday celebration for the children and their caretakers. Each child provides us with a wish list. Some are pages long and full of toys. Others only request a few necessities: a coat, new shoes, a mattress. Regardless, we do our best to fulfill each request. The celebration itself is a joyful event full of laughter and smiles, culminating with a visit from Santa. In addition to the holiday celebration, Path of Hope has also conducted weekend day camps for the kids. The camp afforded the children an opportunity to experience life outside of their usual urban environment. Their days were filled with fishing and kickball, pinatas and science experiments. For many of the children, the camp was full of firsts: first swim in a pond; first tie-dyed shirt; first row boat ride. But we aren't just about holiday parties and summer camp. We're committed to bettering the lives of under-privileged children. Suffice to say, we realize that improving the children's lives also means helping his or her parents or guardians improve their own. As such, we are working towards providing additional services to the children and their caretakers. For more information on this, see our Mission Statement. I'd like to help! What can I do? Great! We can use all the help we can get. We can always use volunteers to help with fund raisers. See our events for volunteer opportunities. Or, if you don't have time to volunteer, donations are always helpful. How much of my donation goes to the kids? 100% of donations go to nurturing our children. The majority of that goes directly to that cause. We work very hard to keep our operating costs low. None of our staff earns a salary. We work on a volunteer basis. When we need supplies, we solicit donation of goods from local businesses before using our own funds. This way, we ensure the children get the most out of your donations. Is my donation tax deductible? Yes, it is. When you make a donation, you'll receive a receipt for your records. Who's on the staff? Our Board of Directors is made up of nine people.
The rest of our volunteers are just as diverse and talented. They bring a variety of skills and experiences to Path of Hope. Without them, we wouldn't be nearly as successful as we are.
