Consider this...
- 34 states have fewer children living in poverty than does New Jersey.
- 4,625 children in New Jersey were the victims of domestic violence in 2002.
- 24,944 children in New Jersey witnessed domestic violence in 2002.
- 8,103 children in New Jersey were the victims of abuse in 2002. Of these, 24.1 percent were physically abused, 9.2 percent were sexually abused, and 3.7 percent were subjected to psychological abuse.
- 5,393 children in New Jersey were subjected to some form of neglect, including medical neglect, in 2002.*
Since 1996, Path of Hope has been devoted to enriching the lives of such children throughout New Jersey. These children are referred to us by teachers and clergy, social workers and counselors. They come to us from a variety of difficult situations that make having full, happy childhoods difficult at best. Despite this, they have all the hopes and dreams for the future that any children have. And they deserve and have an inherent right to happy, healthy, productive lives.
Path of Hope's sole purpose is to nurture these dreams and to assist the children in achieving them.
